"In this election cycle I face two opponents in the Republican Primary- John Hunt and John O'Day, both of Rindge. I hope you will take a close look at all three of us: our positions, our records getting things done and solving problems, and our commitment to serving ALL our constituents."

“I serve the people, not an ideology.”

— The honorable Susan Emerson

Representative for Rindge and Fitzwilliam, NH

Susan Emerson on the N.E.D.Pipeline ...

When I heard about the plan to bring a high-capacity natural gas pipeline directly through the towns I represent, I snapped into action: I went door-to-door at the State House, educating my fellow Representatives on the impact this would have on so many of our constituents. During the 18-month long battle, I co-sponsored many bills to protect the rights of our landowners, homeowners and towns.  I am so pleased that we won the battle!  We can all be so proud

View the bills I co-sponsored to protect my constituents from the dangers of this pipeline.

What did my opponents do to oppose the pipeline?  I don't know. I never saw either of them at a public meeting, open house or any event related to the pipeline.  Mr Hunt supported the pipeline through most of the 18 month battle, then said he opposed it. Mr O'Day says that he opposed the pipeline, but what did either of them actually do to fight it?  You will have to ask them.

Emerson's Philosophy

Emerson's
Work in NH Legislature

"You can care about taxes and about people at the same time. It's crucial that we understand not just the cost of something, but its value."

In today's political climate it is so easy to get caught up in polarized conflict that leads nowhere. My philosophy has always been pragmatic: build relationships with others in our government, independent of party affiliation, and make the best deal you can to solve the problem at hand. It works!

Here are some of the bi-partisan committees I've worked on:

Health and Human Services and Elderly affairs - 7 terms
Chair, Commission on Deafness and Hearing Loss  - 2007-present
Commission to Study Mental Health Implementation -2015
Committee to Study regulation and control of synthetic drugs -2014
Commission to Study General Court Policies & Procedures Related to Persons with Disabilities - 2013
Commission on Primary Care Workforce - 2015
Committee to Study Health Care Services in Correctional Facilities - 2009/10
Committee to Study Medicaid Payments for Hospital-Based Physician and Outpatient Services - 2007
Automated External Defibrillator Advisory Commission - 2010- Present
Task Force relative to Central Registries - 2006
Commission to Study Elimination of Cervical Cancer in NH - 2005
State Committee on Aging - 2012 - Present

The fact is...
